Impact Mill
The Cyclo-Tex KM-21 Impact Mill is a compact design that suits both production and laboratory uses. This equipment is custom-designed to fit the needs of each customer.
Impact Mill PROCESS
The KM-21 Impact Mill uses a rotor to mechanically accelerate the feedstock into stationary blocks. The shattered material is air-swept out of the mill housing and into the cyclone. The cyclone sends the ground material into the collector receptacle, and the dust is carried off to the dust collector.
CUSTOM DESIGNED
The Cyclo-Tex KM-21 Impact Mill is a compact design that suits both production and laboratory uses. This equipment is custom-designed to fit the needs of each customer.
Using a rotor, our impact mill mechanically accelerates the material and sends it into impact blocks, where the material is shattered and then immediately air-swept out of the mill and into a cyclone.
We use a variety of rotors to accelerate the material. We build them to accommodate different operating speeds, material abrasiveness, and initial particle size, with a goal of minimizing contamination. Our impact blocks are also manufactured from different materials. Tungsten carbide, titanium, and stainless steel are the most common, and again, the choice depends on the product. The impact mill can process many materials at a feed rate of 150 kg per hour and is easily converted to a closed-loop system for inert grinding.
Our impact mill prices range from $25,000 to $45,000, depending on materials of construction. Units are custom-made to order and are shipped within 6 to 8 weeks of ordering.
FEEDERS
Cyclo-Tex designs and builds vibratory feeders for open or closed-loop operations. They are compatible with the impact mill, particle classifier, and other processing equipment. These feeders are available in stainless steel or low-carbon steel. Additionally, we offer screw-type feeders in both open and closed-loop models, which are also available in stainless steel or low-carbon steel.
All of our closed-loop feeders are sealed and pressure-balanced for optimum performance. Our feeders are built to handle a variety of materials, from free-flowing substances to sticky materials that do not feed well.
Aerodynamic Particle
Classifiers
The Cyclo-Tex Aerodynamic Particle Classifier separates fine particles from coarse particles by controlling the amount of aerodynamic drag applied to the feed material.
Aerodynamic Particle Classifier Process
• The KC-21 particle classifier mechanically accelerates the unclassified material and sends it directly into an opposing airflow.
• Material with enough inertia to overcome this opposing airflow is sent towards the outer periphery of the housing and then to the receptacle as coarse product.
• Smaller, lighter material is swept away by the airflow into the classifier housing and onto the cyclone, where the fine product is sent into the receptacle and the ultra-fines are carried off to the dust collector.
• The process is infinitely adjustable, and in closed-loop applications, the inert gas is recirculated to minimize usage.

The Cyclo-Tex Aerodynamic Particle Classifier separates fine particles from coarse particles by controlling the amount of aerodynamic drag applied to the feed material. The coarser product, having the inertia to overcome the drag applied against it, is thus separated from the finer product. The classifier is accurate from 2 microns to 45 microns, and feed rates may approach 500 pounds per hour, depending on the material.
The classifier is available in carbon steel or 300 series stainless steel and can be built to process abrasive materials. The wear members of the classifiers can be lined with tungsten carbide blocks or plasma sprayed with tungsten carbide to minimize wear. The classifier can be easily converted to a closed-loop system for inert processing and can be incorporated into existing systems with minimal modification.
A complete classification system includes a material feeder, either closed-loop or open-loop, a dust collector, exhaust blower, and fine and coarse receptacles. All of these are available from Cyclo-Tex in low-carbon steel or stainless steel.
The classifier is often used in series with the impact mill to create a complete size reduction and classification system. This time-proven system has produced accurately sized powders for the aircraft, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and ceramics industries.
Our particle classifiers range in price from $30,000 to $50,000, depending on materials of construction. Units are custom-made to order and are shipped within 6 to 8 weeks of ordering.
SYSTEM ENGINEERING
We custom-build each system to suit a specific application. This design may include the incorporation of a feeder, dust collector, receptacles, and other peripheral equipment. Our engineering department has the capability to integrate our equipment into an existing system with minimal modification. Quotations are readily available, and our broad base of experience with powder material industries gives us a unique advantage in designing specific systems for specific materials.
DUST COLLECTORS
We offer single-element filter units that are rated at 99.9% efficiency at 1 micron, featuring a standard paper element with a 225-square-foot surface area. These units include an automatic pulse-air filter cleaning system, a Magnahelic pressure gauge, and a NEMA 12 enclosure. The pressure rating is -45″ to +45″, and the units can be constructed from low-carbon steel or stainless steel.
